So yeah, I gave up the PC Bang. We started playing at another friend’s house who actually had internet that didn’t lag every five seconds. By this time, I was on Drow Ranger full-time. I don’t think he got why I bought Null Talisman—mana issues were way worse than damage issues–team issues were prevalent. Gust plus a salvo of Frost Arrows is brutal on the pool. I made Drow my staple because I could actually practice her mechanics there.
Then I picked up Windrunner. I went agility because I needed attack speed to complement Focus Fire when it was on cooldown. Made sense at the time, still makes sense.
Elder Titan came next—before the weird rework. Back then he was a total oddball, abilities confusing as hell. Didn’t stick. Dropped him for Weaver, right when he had that ghost thing… whatever it was called. Barely ever used it.
Then a new forum popped up and of course the old forum heads went and made League of Legends. I ended up basically banned from every match at home. Long story, got in an argument with a friend who had… anger problems. So yeah, solo matches weren’t happening. I tried messing around with Windrunner, Weaver, Necrolyte, but DoTA’s ban bug kept kicking me mid-game. Most of my time ended up just being on the forum and at work.
Somewhere in there I found John 17 in the Bible. Been reading it ever since. First prayer in the Gospel of John. Kinda mirrored the lifestyle I was trying to live—focused, patient, but ambitious. That’s when I started my own site: IdeasOfSeismic.com. I learned almost nothing about actual web management, but I was trying to juggle a ton—website, job, forum life, college, church, backyard football, everything I liked. IdeasOfSeismic.com was all about Dota, same as the forum.
Once the ban feature got fixed, I met a friend named Burz in Croatia. We started playing together and I went full Drow Ranger in public matches. Practiced Slark against bots like crazy. This was around the first International, Na’Vi stuff. That’s also when I came up with one of my first hero ideas: Confessor. I had been thinking about her way back on the old forum before LoL hijacked the idea. Can’t figure out how to make her perfect yet. One ability gets her killed, and if you make it an ultimate it’s worth it, but she’s more like a martyr mixed with Vengeful Spirit and Gandhi than a straight-up assassin.
